The Middle School at Northside aims to provide a “safe place”, a stable and supportive
environment for students as they transition from childhood into adulthood. We endeavour
to achieve this through our purpose-built Middle School, which is separate from the Senior
School, a curriculum designed to meet the needs of the young adolescent and an effective
pastoral care program that recognises each student is uniquely designed by God. Middle School at Northside understands that students at this
age have distinctive needs, such as the need for quality
relationships, the desire to establish a personal identity and
the need to begin to develop a sense of personal
responsibility. Quality relationships between teachers and
students are considered a key ingredient to an effective
Middle School. It is through the relationships formed that
effective teaching and learning occurs and effective pastoral
care can be given. With pastoral care being of significant importance within the
College, two Coordinators per year level are provided to
care, encourage and guide students through the Middle
School. Form Teachers then work at a more intimate level
on a daily basis in developing effective relationships with
students. We look forward to partnering with you this year. Yours in Christ Mr Paul Sterling Head of Middle School
