It was a glorious day. Warm, but not too hot when the girls boarded the bus for Mt Barney. There was welcoming laughter, a sense of anticipation mixed with intrepidity, and a look of amazement on faces as they caught the first glimpse of the mountains they were about to climb over the next three days.

On arrival it was meeting with camp organiser, Innes Larken, and then the packing of backpacks and off with guides and teachers to reach day one camp sites before night.  They climbed Mt Barney, Mt Maroon, hiked to the Saddle and swam in the waters of the beautiful portals. All the girls were amazing in their support and encouragement of each other, and their team workmanship to ensure all hike members reached the goals they set for themselves and by others.

They arrived back at base camp full of praise for each other, their guides and teachers.

  • "It was amazing”
  • "Can we do it again?";
  • "I never thought I could achieve what I did do";
  • "Wait ‘til I tell Mum and Dad what we did";
  • "Best camp ever"

These were just some of the comments!

What an amazing group of girls the year 10’s of Northside are!  Our future is certainly in good hands.
