Learn an instrument or join an ensemble in 2020!
Attention all parents of current year three students who would like their child to learn a musical instrument next year!
On Thursday, 19 September we will be gathering all of the year three students together for a talk about their options for learning a musical instrument in Year Four. Our instrumental music tutors will be present, and the talk will be hosted by Mr George, where they will be showing them the range of instrument choices on offer.
Thursday, 19 September
(Parent information flyers will be sent home with the students)
A follow up event will occur in T4W1, on Thursday, 10 October in the CINC building. At this event the year three students will be given the opportunity to hold and play the range of instruments that are open to them. We will try them out on each, and send home more information to parents.
Two weeks later, in T4W3, we will request that all parent forms and online signups be completed, so we can begin processing parents’ requests and getting all set for 2020.
If you have any questions about this, please contact our Instrumental Music Coordinator, Mr George: email@example.com
The instrument choices are many: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The quality of our teaching staff is exceptional.
Generally speaking, Year 4 is when we allow students to join the school bands and begin learning an instrument. We have very inexpensive group lesson and instrument rental arrangements, in the order of approximately $370 for the full year’s worth of lessons, instrument rental and ensemble involvement. This works out to around only $90 per term, or $10 per school week for their lesson, band and instrument rental... which is amazing value aimed at getting kids involved easily.
Parents may also request private piano or guitar lessons for their child at any time.
More information about the program can be found on our website at https://www.northside.qld.edu.au/co-curricular/performing-arts.
For a first-hand look at things, come along to the Da Vinci Festival on Tuesday, 15 October from 4pm, where most of our school ensembles will be performing.
Alternatively you can book in with Mr George for a tour of our musical facilities, where you can ask any questions you may have.
