Sacred Space Week - Term 2, 2020

While we will not be able to meet as a whole community for worship, prayer and devotions, Sacred Space Week (Week 6, Term 2) will provide a new format for our community to come together - focusing on thanksgiving.

The Prayer Chapel will be open and set up on a rotational basis, so our school community (students, teachers and staff) can contribute via a 'thanksgiving wall', whilst our wider community (parents, families, alumni) are invited to engage with online devotions, and submit their reflections via email (to be printed out). This will become a community creation of notes and reflections that shows our thanksgiving in a tangible, visible way.

Devotions will be uploaded to this web page daily, and on our Facebook page as well.

Devotion - Tuesday, 26 May

Count your blessings

I was blessed with wonderful grandparents.

Like many grandparents, they had their regular pithy little sayings. The one I recall the most was, ‘Count your Blessings’. Such good advice and a great antidote to self pity.

Isn’t it curious how we are prone to compare ourselves up to the 2-3% of people who are ‘better off’ than us in the world and down towards the 97-98% of people who may look up towards us.

I’m grateful that when I count my blessings, I am reminded that we have a ‘Good Shepherd’ who cares for us (John 10). Let’s listen for the Good Shepherd’s voice today and remember His blessings.

Let’s look after our flock (our students, our families and each other) with great care again this week.

A Thanksgiving Psalm – Psalm 100

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.

It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."
