The Northside community came together for a memorable evening at the 40 Years of Sport Celebration and 2025 Sports Awards Ceremony, honouring four decades of sporting achievement, teamwork, and faith-filled character.
This year’s Sports Captains, Hannah and Noah, opened the night by reflecting on what sport means at Northside. “At Northside, sport is more than just training and playing games; it’s about the community we create together, grounded in our school motto, Character Through Christ,” Hannah shared. “Within these teams and moments, students have had the opportunity to grow in confidence and faith, using their God-given gifts to glorify Him.”
Quoting 1 Corinthians 9:24, the Captains reminded the audience that the true prize in sport is not just about winning, but about running the race with integrity, encouraging one another, and reflecting Christ through sportsmanship.
Throughout the night, outstanding student athletes were recognised with Age Champion Awards, Players of the Year, and Gold and Silver Awards across a wide range of sports.
The Captains also looked back on some of the year’s major sporting highlights:
-
Sports Camp kicked off the year at Tallebudgera, where students trained under professional coaches, developed their skills, and built community across all year levels.
-
The Interhouse Swimming Carnival brought colour, competition, and cheer, with Wesley House claiming victory in the pool and Elliot House taking out the inaugural House Spirit Cup for their enthusiasm and support.
-
The Cross Country Carnival saw a thrilling finish, with Booth House edging out the competition to secure first place.
-
Booth House triumphed again at the Athletics Carnival, taking home their second trophy of the year after a series of strong performances in track, field, and relays.
Beyond the trophies and titles, what stood out most was the encouragement, unity, and character displayed across every event — hallmarks of what makes sport at Northside truly special.
As the College celebrated both its rich sporting history and the achievements of 2025, the night served as a powerful reminder that at Northside, sport is not only about competition — it’s about community, faith, and character that lasts far beyond the field.
