Hi everyone, my name is Sienna J. I’m a Year 11 student and have nearly completed the Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology. I was the first student at Northside to undertake this course, and I strongly encourage others to consider it because it has grown my faith in ways I never imagined.
Through the course, I’ve made new friends, expanded my knowledge of the bible, grown in wisdom, and deepened my relationship with Christ. It’s an incredible opportunity to study Christian ministry while at school, while also earning eight QCE points and an ATAR contribution. As someone who isn’t sure whether university is my next step, but knows I love Jesus and would love to serve in ministry and missions, I highly recommend it.
The course is challenging, with three terms of workbooks, weekly modules, Bible studies and presentations. The Bible entries have taught me how to understand Scripture more deeply by exploring who wrote it, when and why it was written, and its historical and cultural context. We also explore significant biblical, cultural and personal issues, learning to analyse Scripture, research different perspectives and form thoughtful conclusions.
One of the highlights is the retreats, where students from across Queensland come together for worship, teaching, devotionals and fellowship. We explored topics including Scripture and biblical interpretation, missions and evangelism, and the Trinity. These experiences challenged me, encouraged me and helped me grow in my faith.
Throughout the course, you are supported by a ministry supervisor, mentor and peer group supervisor who encourage you spiritually and personally.
I genuinely believe this course has deepened my love and knowledge of Jesus, strengthened my desire to evangelise and opened doors for my future in ministry and theology. I would encourage any Year 10 students who want to serve God in their Youth, Church, at the College to Pray and consider doing the Cert III and see how God might use this course to grow you too!
