At Northside Christian College, we believe sport is more than competition—it’s about teamwork, resilience, and personal growth.

Our comprehensive program includes Academy Sports, offering students specialised training in their chosen disciplines; Interhouse Carnivals for swimming, athletics, and cross-country events; and Year Level Sport, fostering participation, skill development, and healthy lifestyles across all grades.

The Northside Academy Sporting Programs

All Year Levels

The Northside Academy Sporting Programs aim to give students an opportunity to represent the College in higher sporting competitions in Basketball, Football (*Please note: Football includes Field Soccer & Futsal), Netball, Touch and Volleyball.

Each respective academy will have a Head of Program who will conduct all trials and training sessions throughout the year. Successfully selected students will make the Academy Squad. This will enable them to be selected for representative competitions (e.g. BOSL) throughout the school year. This does not guarantee their selection in a team but enables students to have the chance to represent the College at sporting competitions.

Students may trial for more than one Academy.  Please contact us for more information and for requirements on being selected into an Academy. Those who are unsuccessful at making the Academy will still participate in Year Level Sport. Students may re-trial for the Academy throughout the year when opportunities become available. This will be at the discretion of the Sports Coordinator or Head of Program.

Interhouse Carnivals - Cross Country, Track & Field (Athletics), Swimming

All Northside Christian College students are formed into four Houses: Booth, Elliot, Wesley and Graham. Participation and house spirit are the essence of these carnivals, and the sporting calendar caters to all students, with separate carnivals for junior and secondary students.

Students who excel in these events have the ability to represent the College at higher sporting competitions, such as district or state level.

Interhouse Carnivals include Swimming, Cross-Country and Track & Field (Athletics) Events.

For representative pathways, please contact Secondary Sports Department (07 3353 1266) or view the Met North Website.

Year Level Sports

(Years 7 - 10)

Students who are not selected for the Academy Programs, or who do not wish to participate in the Academies, will have the opportunity to play Year Level Sport.

Students will compete in NISSA, an interschool-based competition against other schools in the Brisbane area. The competition is split into two seasons from Term 1 through to Term 3, with four different sports made available to students in both seasons.

For students who are unsuccessful in being selected for Academy Sports, they can still be selected for the Academy later in the year if they display good performances and positive attitudes at Year Level Sporting Events.

In Term 4, students will be able to select from multiple Social Sporting activities to close out the school year (some of these sports may require payment; however, non-payment options will still be available).

Students will have a selection of the following Sports across the two seasons:

Season One:

  • Netball
  • Volleyball
  • Touch Football
  • Futsal

Season Two:

  • Basketball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Rugby 7s
  • Soccer

Representative Sports

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for students who excel in particular sports to trial for District and Regional teams, with the possibility of being chosen to represent Queensland School Sport at national carnivals.

Dates will be posted on the Met North website for nomination and trial details for team and individual sports. Please note that individual events (e.g. Swimming, Cross-Country and Track & Field) will require recorded times and/or distances at College Carnivals to be eligible for nominations.

The College will email parents with a nomination form for representative sporting events throughout the year. Please complete the District Sport Nomination Form once it is made available.
