There are many co-curricular opportunities available to our Junior School students.
Gala Day Sport

Interhouse Carnivals
There are four interhouse carnivals each year for our Junior School students.

- Lower Junior School Athletics: Prep – Year 2
- Swimming: Year 3 – Year 6
Representative Carnivals
For each of the Big 3 Carnivals (Cross Country, Athletics, and Swimming), our students have the opportunity to represent Northside at various representative carnivals.
West District
This is the Queensland Representative School Sport (QRSS) pathway. Students compete against other schools in the district, and pending their results, can progress to Regional, State, and National Championships. These carnivals are for students who are 10 – 12 Years.
NISSA
The Northern Independent Schools Sporting Association (NISSA) is comprised of five other junior schools on the Northside of Brisbane (Genesis Christian College, Grace Lutheran Primary School, Living Faith Lutheran Primary School, Prince of Peace Lutheran Primary School, and The Lakes College). These carnivals are for students who are 9 – 12 years old
CSSAQ
The Christian Schools Sports Association Queensland (CSSAQ) exists to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition for students of member schools. CSSAQ member schools consist of Australian Christian Schools (ACS) and Christian Schools Australia (CSA) networks. These carnivals are for students who are 9 – 12 years old.
District Trials
Throughout the year, students aged 10 – 12 Years are given the opportunity to trial for numerous West District sporting teams. This is also a Queensland Representative School Sport (QRSS) pathway. Pending selection, students can compete at Regional, State, and National carnivals.
Swimming
Students in Years 1–6 participate in a swimming program throughout Term 4.
Running Club
We have a longstanding commitment to running in our Junior School, and over the past 17 years, Running Club has allowed students to develop both their fitness and confidence while fostering a joyful and grateful team spirit. The Running Club runs twice per week before school throughout the year.
Jump Rope for Heart
All Year 3 – 6 students learn a range of jump rope skills and about the importance of heart health. Each year, at the end of the program, we hold a ‘Jump Day’ where students showcase their skills.
Extra-Curricular Sports
Each year, various sporting organisations come to teach students about new and exciting sports. These sports are then offered at a discounted rate onsite, outside of school hours, for students to participate in. In 2025, students were able to engage with:
- AFL Auskick and Superkick (Prep – Year 6)
- NRL League Stars (Prep – Year 6)
- Ulti-Play (Year 5 & 6)
PMP Program
The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program for Prep and Year 1 students. It helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion, and eye-tracking skills.
